It's sad we don't have debates like that one at the bottom as much anymore.

Comment by: NinjaPirate -- Date: 2007-12-06 03:28:41

I would write less than all the other people did here so others might take the time to read it...

Comment by: politesc -- Date: 2007-12-04 13:53:48

Yes, I've read the report. The reports says they have no evidence of undeclared nuclear activities. The report even says further information is requested for the purpose of building confidence - hardly an accusation that they are preparing to nuke their neighbors. Keep in mind, the same style of accusations used against Iran where being used against Iraq. I'm still waiting on them to find those weapons of mass destruction - mobile biolabs and everything. The people making these accusations are not credible, yet their arguments are being taken seriously and counterpoints are being downplayed.

"As far as I know"?!!? Have you taken the time to read the report? "I've heard"?!!? Do you have some sort of special super duper intel contacts your not telling us about? Y ou ask how is it possible to prove that they aren't developing Nuclear weapons? In IAEA's mind its quite simple. Give the inspectors comprehensive access to sites and documents. If Iran doesn't want to help clear their name then they are only screwing themselves and casting suspicion on their entire energy program. Till they do that they will be under suspicion of developing nuclear weapons.

antiwar.com - take some time to look around that website. As far as I know, the doubts expressed by the IAEA are more nitpicking than serious argument in favor of the propaganda pushed by the Bush administration. I've heard that the IAEA inspectors in Iran are doing everything they can to prove that Iran is not perusing nuclear weapons, in an attempt to prevent our leaders from initiating another war war like the one in Iraq. Furthermore, what the debate over Iran is about is proving a negative. It is an attempt to have Iran or the inspectors prove that Iran is not developing nuclear weapons - something impossible to prove. When there is no proof of the non-existence of the program, it tends to get spun into evidence that such a program does exist.

First you claim that IAEA's report says "that Iran's nuclear program is geared toward domestic energy production" when clearly the report expresses its doubts. Now you go on to mention the "intelligence community" calling them out on it in interviews? Which interviews? Who are these "lot of people inside the intelligence community"? I called your BS once. Are you seriously trying for round 2?

Comment by: Dogmeat -- Date: 2007-12-02 00:32:12

Just about all the "evidence" about Iran's hypothetical nuclear weapons program is purely conjecture. They point at lies, distortions, and propaganda to try to paint Iran as a country relentlessly pursuing that technology. The people that fabricated a bunch of baloney about Iraq are the same people making the claim that Iran is pursuing nukes, give or take a few. I don't take those people seriously, especially when a lot of people inside the intelligence community are calling them out on it in interviews.

Comment by: Malcompliant -- Date: 2007-12-01 19:46:31

Let the pursue their nuclear dreams. It's not like the iaea or nato is going to stop them. the catch is this: they dick cheney be in charge of supervising their program. that way, if he doesn't like what he's seeing, he takes them hunting and "accidentally" shoots them in the head.

Comment by: makeyourtime -- Date: 2007-12-01 19:35:32

"The report notes that the IAEA is 'still not in a position to conclude that there are no undeclared nuclear materials or activities in Iran.' The IAEA's inability so far to draw such a conclusion is based on the fact that its inspectors had no comprehensive access to sites and documents in question. " NTI.org I would assume the IAEA is correct by ACTUALLY READING the reports about Iran's nuclear program. I would try to keep it a diplomatic issue until it either escalated or the IAEA was fully satisfied.

Comment by: Dogmeat -- Date: 2007-12-01 15:56:03

Ignore it and hope it goes away.

Comment by: tragedy -- Date: 2007-12-01 13:25:59

Let Isreal (or encourage rather) to bomb it like they did the other reactor back in the 70's or simply blockade all imports and exports until they give up.

Comment by: NinjaPirate -- Date: 2007-12-01 12:51:24

I would nuke them just to show them how dangerous they are.

Comment by: Asno667 -- Date: 2007-12-01 08:10:18

I would accept that the IAEA is correct in their assessment which states that Iran's nuclear program is geared toward domestic energy production, then stop making baseless accusations about hypothetical nuclear weapons...
